"Born to Rock" by Gordon Korman

Ever thought how cool it would be if one of your parents was famous? How about if you're a conservative Republican and your father is King Maggot, the undisputed master of punk? This is the situation for Leo, our main character in Born to Rock. On his way to Harvard in the fall, a misunderstanding causes him to lose his scholarship - desperate for the money, he decides to hit up his recently-discovered famous dad for the tuition money.

First, though, he must spend his summer touring with King Maggot as a roadie. Hilarity ensues, as only Korman can write it, and Leo finds himself in over his head, from his shock at drug use (by the bands, not Leo himself) to having to throw a table into a pretzel machine to save a poodle. Confused? Interested? Read the book to find out how that little stunt goes over with the local police - and how Leo ends up in the wrong group of people who haven't had a cavity search and people who have.

This is a great book, really funny, and even my reluctant guys will enjoy this one, I promise. I gave it an 8.5 out of 10, so go pick it up for the summer.
